DYNAMIC TAPE MICROPHONE The VR1 is a passive tape mic made to highlight the bite and sharp sound of our guitar enclosures without adding those muddy highs. The VR2, an active ribbon mic that can bring violins and voices directly into the foreground of the mix stereo that our listeners will hear. SE's VR ribbon microphones mark a new era in technology applied to ribbon microphones. Until the creation of the VR Series, the only ribbon microphone in the world operating in the 20Hz to 20kHz range had been the product of our own Rupert Neve collaboration, the RNR1. This was accomplished using state-of-the-art custom transformers and a circuit designed by Rupert Neve to reveal generally missing HFs.

With VR microphones, full frequency response is achieved using an intelligent mechanical device designed by Siwei Zou, the CEO of the company, and with a hand-stretched tape built by our highly specialized technicians in the sE capsule manufacturing room. . The result is an extraordinarily detailed, open and natural recording of acoustic instruments and guitar enclosures.
